Phone booth

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

Here’s LRN4 making a phone call.  I suspect she’s just about to transform into a superhero as well.  Or is that a superheroine?  I don’t care, as long as it includes a really cool costume.

Well.  Another week, another lack of posts.  I’m just busy.  Plus, there’s nothing much interesting to report.  Kind of pathetic, that – busy, busy, busy and boring, boring, boring.  But I’m having a great time.

I discovered today that my iPhone app now has 412 downloads!  And my second-biggest market (after the USA) is still Korea.  Why?  I guess they’re Morse code crazy over there.  Anyway, I’m delighted to have so many downloads.  Still need to get to work on the follow-up app.  Haven’t even started it yet.

Also need to work on LRN4’s website.  There’s a ton to do there.  She’s making good progress on making her photography beautiful.  I have high hopes for the site.  But I really need to do my part to make it beautiful too.

LRN5 and LRN12 were here on Saturday for a birthday party.  Happy birthday, LRN5!  It was the first time we’d seen LRN12 since mid-December.  We had missed her!  She just keeps getting cuter and more fun.

LRN2’s doing well in school, although he strangely doesn’t seem to feel like he’s doing all that great.  All I can say is the results are speaking for themselves.  He’s doing great.  And he’s doing really well at learning to take complete care of himself.

LRN1’s also doing very well.  We got a very nice letter from him this week.  He’s working hard and seems happy.  Lots of success too.

We had our friend Art over for dinner last night.  His wife, our friend Cathie, is out of town and he deserved a decent meal.  He brought over a bunch of maps of our area, including some really good information in Yosemite.  We live about two hours away from there, and we’ve only gone once since we moved to Lardville.  Need to correct that situation.  Art pointed out a whole bunch of interesting things to see.  Need to spend a few of my off Fridays doing a bit of exploring.

And that’s about it for tonight.  I want to go to bed.  So I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this exciting Morrowlife employment agency opportunity: fugitive monkey!

See you tomorrow.

Birthday girl

Monday, January 17th, 2011

Here’s LRN12 on her birthday.  Well, actually I think it may have been close to her birthday.  What difference does it make?  She got her presents and cake.  What a cutie.

Quick post tonight.  I missed a whole week there while LRN4 and I were out of town and there’s lots to talk about, but its already getting a bit late and I still have lots to accomplish tonight.

Let’s talk about that first, shall we?  Need to assemble LRN4’s new office chair.  She got it at Costco today, using our annual Executive membership rebate coupon.  Cool!

I also need to start disassembling the footstool that goes with my new thinking sofa.  We got it (for free) from a friend.  It’s a bit (well, a lot, actually) stained, so LRN4 has decided to recover it.  I need to take the lid off of the footstool, which has a pretty large amount of storage inside it.  Then she can get to work.

We also need to coordinate our calendars.  And that’s about it tonight.

Had a great week last week.  We went to Salt Lake City for my iPhone development training class, which I greatly enjoyed.  I think it was quite useful, although it would have been even more useful if I had zero experience.  It was definitely at the 101 level.  I was one of the least experienced iPhone programmers there, and at least the first half of the week was too simple for me.  But it was still worth going to.  A whole week of Appley goodness.

One of the other really good things about it was getting to know the church’s iPhone programming team, who I’ve been working with for these last several months.  Nice people, all of them.  And quite talented.  Plus fun to be around.  I like them all.

Another of the volunteers in the class was a guy I knew way back when we lived in San Diego.  He’s still there and it turns out that he’s one of the major volunteers – very experienced and talented.  It was great getting back in touch.

We took LRN2 out to dinner a couple of times, and also took him to the Salt Lake Auto Show on Friday night, which was fun.  He’s doing great – better than he thinks, I suspect. He’s meeting people, working hard, and having a nice time at school.  We really miss him.

Also enjoyed staying with the in-laws again, of course.  They’re really hospitable people and lots of fun to be with.

Time for other things.  I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this encouraging food anti-violence news: seeing meat!  Note that this is totally different from seeing people as meat.

See you tomorrow.

Fountain

Friday, January 7th, 2011

Here’s LRN4 in front of the fountain in front of the science center we visited on Christmas Eve.  Part of my famous Statue series.  Sort of.  Is a fountain a statue?  That one is.

Missed a few days.  Been very busy.  Had a nice off Friday.  Went to a few stores with LRN4, went to the library and checked out a few books to take to Utah next week, went out to both lunch and dinner, and went to Bass Pro to walk off some of that food.  Also goofed around a fair bit here around the Secret Undisclosed Location.  Good day.

Also wrote a letter to LRN1.  I sure miss him.  I can’t believe he’s only one month away from being halfway through his mission!  It seems like he just barely left.  He’ll be back around the old Secret Undisclosed Location before you can say the Secret Undisclosed Word.  Probably because you don’t know the Secret Undisclosed Word.  And neither do I, but I can make one up.  But you still won’t know it.

Anyway.  It’s late and I want to go to bed.  So I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this exciting food violence crime-fighting news:  pumpkin-tossing crime fighter!

See you on Monday.

Elephant fan

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

Here’s LRN2 with an elephant statue at the zoo in Michigan during our vacation a few years ago. That’s LRN2 there in the back.  Magnum!  Part of my famous Statue series.

No posts for a few days, as usual. Been a good week or so. First, the big news. LRN2’s in college! We dropped him off on Saturday. He reports he’s enjoying himself and he’s doing well. We miss him! He attended his first classes and got his first homework assignments today. He also had a job interview today. Good luck with that one, LRN2! I’m sure you’ll find something good. If not, I’m sure you’ll find something like I had in college.

In other news, I went back to work today. Moment of silence, please. Fortunately, everything’s good there. It’s a three-day work week for me, which is always nice. Then I’m headed back to Utah for another week. I got invited today to a training class there that goes Monday-Friday. Didn’t expect to be going back so soon, but I’m really excited about the class.

Nothing else to report. I’m hanging around the loft watching an old episode of Monk – back when he was good. Nice quiet evening.

And it’s time for bed. I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this shocking food violence news: goldfish fry!

See you tomorrow.
