Seafood parlor

Friday, March 25th, 2011

Here’s LRN4 in front of the Seafood Parlor.  Great Art taken at Half Moon Bay and part of my famous Vacation series.

Not many posts lately.  Busy week, though.  Let’s count it down backwards, shall we?

LRN4 and I went to the Manteca Stake luau this evening.  Wore a Hawaiian shirt and huarachis and had a nice time.  They roasted a pig, which was tasty.  Nice company too.  It was a well-attended event, although very sparsely attended by our ward’s membership.  Pity.

Worked from home today.  The ACE trains weren’t running and we were expecting some nasty weather, so I opted to stay home.  Got several things done.  And it was nice to be here.

Drove home from work yesterday.  No fun.  It took just shy of three hours.  I had gotten some mysterious texts from the ACE people saying they were arranging bus and taxi transportation home for people.  I took that as a bit of a warning and drove.  It turns out there was a mudslide in Niles Canyon sometime on Thursday, and nothing was getting through.  I sincerely hope they have it fixed by Monday afternoon.  Have to drive the Suburban back on Monday morning, so that won’t matter.

We’ve had an amazing amount of rain – for this area, anyway.  There’s a bit of minor flooding in various areas and the pool keeps getting too full.  Disaster level: low.  Inconvenience level: low to moderate.

Looking forward a bit, tomorrow’s supposed to be our annual trip to Great America.  I’ve really been looking forward to it.  Don’t think we’ll go, though.  It’s supposed to be 57 degrees and raining.  So maybe next year.  On the positive side, LRN12’s back home from her other grandparents’ house and she and her mom will be coming over tomorrow.  Ought to be a fun visit.

And now for some Very Important News: Morse Trainer is up!  Grab a free copy, Loyal Readers!

And I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this shocking food violence news: cake-related shooting!

See you on Monday.

Half Moon marina

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

Here’s the marina at Half Moon Bay.  Pretty picturesque place.  Part of my famous Machinery, Vacation, and Bird series.

Missed another few days.  Had a nice weekend, although we didn’t really get much done.  The weather was windy and rainy and we pretty much stayed around the house.  I did finally get my new app done and submitted to the App Store.  Haven’t heard from them on the review yet – I hope to have it available for download within a couple of days.  Check out a screen shot here.

Otherwise, not so much going on.  LRN4’s website continues to grow.  She’s still not getting as many visitors as she’d like, but she is at least generating a bit of buzz among her friends on Facebook.  I think she’ll get where she wants to be with it.  Check it out, Loyal Readers.  And leave a comment.  That’s an order.

It’s Friends of Scouting time!  Aaaarrrrrrgh!  I’m in charge of collecting the money this year.  So Knuckles, Bruiser, and I will be making the rounds.  “Nice house you got here, lady.  Be a shame if something happened to it.  How much are you planning to donate to Friends of Scouting this year?”

And that’s about it for tonight.  I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this shocking food violence news:  frozen beef assault!

See you tomorrow.

Bay bird

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

Here’s a bird at Half Moon Bay.  Sitting on the dock of the bay.  Part of my famous Bird series.  Also part of my famous Vacation series, of course.

Busy day.  Incredibly busy.  Got up, got dressed, commuted, went to meetings, went to a going-away luncheon, went to more meetings, commuted, ate dinner, and sat down to blog.  What does the immediate future hold?  Finishing blogging, maybe a bit of reading, and going to bed.  Ah, the glamorous life.

Still, it wasn’t a bad day.

I’m listening to a few Karen Carpenter songs on Grooveshark as I write this.  My goodness, she had a beautiful voice.  And she sang some beautiful songs.  It was really uncool to like her music for a long time.  I hope those days can be over.  Doesn’t really matter, though.

And I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this (hopefully not previously blogged) shocking food violence news: Polish sausage fight!

See you tomorrow.

Beach reader

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

Here’s LRN4 hanging out at the beach at Half Moon Bay.  Looks like a nice warm day, huh?  That’s a bit of her friend Jan’s pink arm there.  Great Art courtesy of my Olympus camera and part of my famous Vacation series.

No posts for an extremely long time.  Been busy, been doing other things, been unable to get to it.  Time to start up again.

Not that there’s that much my Loyal Readers have missed.  Working and sleeping.  Eating too.  Too much, as a matter of fact.  Need to work on that.

LRN4’s website is going very well.  I still have a couple of things to figure out on the template, but I think its looking pretty good.  Check it out.  And leave a comment.  I mean it.  I order you.

LRN4 and I are getting ready to go to Salt Lake at the end of the month for the aforementioned LDS Tech conference.  We’re also greatly looking forward to seeing LRN2.

Speaking of whom, LRN2’s cell phone is kaput.  The old Palm has finally given up the ghost.  It lasted quite a while, though, so we don’t need to mourn for it.  It made it through me and then LRN1 and finally LRN2.  Good phone.  I was going to talk to the AT&T folks this evening to see if we’re eligible for another free/cheap phone for him, but it turns out I can only do that during business hours.  I’ll have to call from work, I suppose.  He needs a replacement very soon.

We’ve been talking about going to Guatemala to pick up LRN1 from his mission next February.  We just don’t know if that’s the best thing to do.  Might enjoy touring the country, might not.  We really wouldn’t see him significantly sooner – maybe a day or so – so that’s not really a consideration.  We have plenty of time to make up our minds.  What do my Loyal Readers think about it?

And I really need to go to bed.  I’ll leave my Loyal Reader with this shocking food violence news:  chicken throwing!

See you tomorrow.

Harveycar

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011

Here’s LRN2 with his latest new ride.  Yes, this time he’s traded in the ‘Vette for his very own Harveycar.  I think it’s a big step up, don’t you, Loyal Readers?  More room for friends.  And the gas mileage is probably about the same.  Great Art courtesy of my Olympus camera and taken at this summer’s family reunion at the Grand Canyon.  Part of my famous Machinery series.

I think I missed another day or two, no?  Just a second, I’ll check.  I’m back.  Yes, I missed another day.  And a fine day it was.

Stayed home today – my throat’s been bothering me a bit and I decided to sleep in and work at home.  Had a fairly productive day and enjoyed being here.  Worked.

My brother-in-law Ken was here this evening, as planned.  We had a really nice visit.  One thing I really like about Ken is that he always stops in when he’s in the area on business.  He’s going to see LRN2 in Provo in a week or so.  I helped to make his visit worthwhile by fixing a computer for him, and LRN4 made it worthwhile by making and serving an excellent turkey dinner.

We’re heading to Half Moon Bay tomorrow morning, as planned.  Won’t be home until Sunday, so blogging is highly unlikely on Friday.  I’m not even bringing my computer (aargh!).  I’ll have the iPad, but I still probably won’t write anything anyway.  Try to stifle your suffering, Loyal Readers.  I’ll be back next week.

And I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this shocking food violence news: fried chicken assault!

See you on Monday.
