Village steamer

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

Here’s the steam train at Greenfield Village.  I don’t know why I love steam locomotives so much.  They’re just cool.  Great Art courtesy of my good old Minolta camera and part of my famous Train, Machinery and Vacation series.  A very rare Morrowlife trifecta.

Extreme Short Shrift tonight.  It’s late.  The missionaries came over tonight to get some help with a presentation they’re making to the Relief Society on Thursday evening about mormon.org.  That website has gotten quite good – I recommend my Loyal Readers check it out.

Sadly, my thousandth post has gone unnoticed and uncommented by my Loyal Readers.  Sigh.  I guess I’m just not posting often enough for anybody to think to read the blog anymore.  I have nobody to blame but myself, I guess.  Don’t know if I should really keep this up anymore.  Maybe Facebook and/or Google+ are the places to be these days.

Speaking of Google+, LRN5 gave me an invitation the other day, so I have an account there now.  Not many people yet – it’s going to take a LOOOOONG time to catch up with Facebook.  However, Facebook caught up with and utterly smashed MySpace, so it’s still anybody’s game.  Google doesn’t always win these wars, but they have a fairly decent track record.  Things I like about Google+: Circles.  You can choose which of your friends can see which messages.  Keep family separate from friends separate from work separate from hobbies separate from whatever other weird things you do.  Yeah, I know Facebook can do that too, sort of.  But it’s really easy with Google+.  Let’s see, what else do I like about it?  I don’t know.  Haven’t used it that much yet.  But it’s pretty much like a very barren Facebook.  It’ll grow.

Things I don’t know about Google+:  Not having achieved critical mass yet.  Time will tell.

Okay, that’s it for tonight.  Busy week ahead, followed by a busy weekend.  Oh, we’re going to a little seminar on Saturday for people interested in starting their own businesses.  I’m really excited about it, although I’m a bit worried I’ll find out I don’t really want to make the sacrifices necessary to build business up.  I’ll let you know!

And I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this shocking food violence news: neutralized fruit basket!

See you tomorrow.

Track runner

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

Here’s an . . . umm . . . . railroad . . . thing. Of sorts.  I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to run down the track and . . . umm . . . do something.  All I really know about it is I want one.  Great Art courtesy of the exclusive iPhone-cam and taken during our Grand Canyon trip in Williams, Arizona and part of my famous Train and Vacation series.

Extreme Short Shrift.  It’s late already and I’m not getting nearly enough sleep.

Plus, not much new.  Had a very busy day at work, which was mostly good, but also just a bit tiring.  So let’s see – what needs to be mentioned here?  Umm . . . nothing.

So I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this exciting Morrowlife employment agency job opportunity: congressional clown.  Key motto: “It can’t get any worse.”

See you tomorrow.

Williams steamer

Here’s LRN4 in front of Old Number 29 – the steam locomotive that, until recently, was used to pull the train we rode to the Grand Canyon.  Such a pity we missed out on that neat experience.  Great Art courtesy of the exclusive iPhone-cam and part of both my famous Train and Vacation series.

LRN2 mentioned sometime over the weekend that I’ve only posted three times so far this month.  Not my best record.  Of course, some Loyal Readers might think this is the best month of all here on the blog.  Not that they’d think such a thing, of course.

Fairly peaceful weekend.  Wish I could remember what happened.  I do remember working pretty much all day on Saturday.  Friday too, come to think of it.  Oh, wait – I know: I cleaned up my office.  It looks beautiful.  The Loyal Readers and I also got a whole bunch of junk out of the garage – either moved it, threw it away, or got it ready to sell.  Either way, it’s not cluttering up the front of the Taurus or impeding the way into the Ranger.  Much better.

Did a whole bunch of other things too, and I’m sure they were important.  Also very productive.  LRN4 and I spent some time in the jacuzzi Saturday evening, which was nice.  LRN2 was at a priest/laurel activity at the time, which he enjoyed.

It’s less than four months before good old LRN2 is off to college.  At least that’s what we expect to happen – his application to BYU has been submitted.  Now we wait for acceptance, which should be no problem.  We’ll see how it goes.

Not much else in the news department, so I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this shocking food violence news: cornbread pan attack!

See you tomorrow.

Train arrival

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Here’s the morning ACE train arriving at the station several days ago. Great Art courtesy of the exclusive iPhone cam and part of my famous Train series. Very artsy.

Great weekend. Didn’t sleep as much as I would have liked, but relaxed just the same. LRN12 spent the weekend with her mom and had a wonderful time. It’s nice to have her back for a couple of days. Tuesday night, she goes back to her mom’s house and we leave for Utah early Wednesday morning. Blogging will probably be light to non-existent, depending on the available of internet connections. I really need to figure out how to blog from the iPhone.

Blogging may not happen tomorrow either – it’s one of my Massive Meeting Tuesdays, and then we want to leave home at 5:00 on Wednesday morning. I pity my Loyal Readers.

We worked out our Christmas activity calendar for December this evening at Home Evening. We pretty much have the usual things planned, but it’s exciting for the plan to come together. We’re just a few weeks away from the Christmas break!

Tonight’s news is more shocking food violence: pasta attack! Can you blame the guy?

See you tomorrow, maybe.

Oncoming train

Monday, November 9th, 2009

Here’s an oncoming train. Picture taken at the Santa Clara ACE/Amtrak platform. This particular train was an Amtrak, which I do not ride. I do photograph it, however. Great Art courtesy of the exclusive iPhone-cam and part of my famous Machinery and Train series.

I think the sky was kind of pretty that day.

Extreme Short Shrift. It’s late and I’m sleepy. My Mac updated itself this evening and never started back up. Had to force-quit it and give it another try. Worked perfectly that time. But I wasted a lot of time waiting the first time. And did I mention I’m sleepy?

Nice weekend. It was great visiting with LRN9. And everything else we did. Whatever that was. Oh, yeah – LRN5 was here for a few days too, which was great, especially for LRN12, who was truly happy to be with her mom. LRN5’s coming over again on Thursday.

LRN12 and LRN2 have both been suffering with cold symptoms. Get well soon, Loyal Readers! I’m not sure if I’m coming down with it too. I’m feeling a wee bit feverish, possibly, and just kind of achy and uncomfortable. But maybe that’s just the way I am. Time will tell. Stay well, Loyal Blogger!

I’ll end today with what I think is an entirely reasonable malady – vegetable panic. I think I may have it, in fact.

See you tomorrow.
