White rose

whiterose

Here’s yet another rose from the City of Hope rose garden – this time a white one.  Great Art courtesy of the exclusive iPhone-cam, taken this afternoon during our walk, and part of my famous Garden series.

Very busy weekend.  LRN4 went into the hospital on Saturday afternoon.  They started chemo at about 9:00 that evening, gave her the second infusion at the same time on Sunday, and then the third at about 4:00 today.  Her hospital room was in the old building, but it was reasonably comfortable.  She had to share the shower with her next-door neighbor and the bathrooms in that building are nearly impossible to navigate when you’re attached to an IV pole, but everything was otherwise okay there.  It took two hours to get dinner on Saturday, but the food service was otherwise okay too.  Oh, they also forgot to bring her a cookie when she wanted one.  That’s a serious omission!

Little progress on the programming front.  I was distracted.  But I must keep working.  I did get version 0.1 of the iOS app done this afternoon with the exception of a small bug in portrait mode.  I’ll get that fixed tomorrow and get LRN31 hooked up with a beta copy to check out the general layout and functionality and to see if she can drive out any bugs.  Then there’s the artwork and icons (maybe I should at least put some kind of icon on it for tomorrow – shouldn’t be too hard), reports, printing, supporting evidence, and probably some other stuff.  So there’s still plenty left to do.

I also need to update my account with the Apple people.  Their developer portal was taken offline because of a system intrusion, so it hasn’t necessarily been possible to do the kind of update I need to do.  But I think they’re probably able to hand it now.  So I need to get on the phone with them tomorrow and get that done too.  There’s still lots left to do, but I’m making progress!  My new goal is to get it released before Labor Day.  I’m guaranteed to make my deadline, just as long as I’m willing to push the deadline out every time I miss one.

And I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this shocking food violence news: family pop tart theft!

See you tomorrow.

MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Here’s the only woman in the entire world who matters, along with our dear, sweet youngest son.  Great Art courtesy of my exclusive old Minolta camera, taken during a camping trip in Pennsylvania on Labor Day weekend in 2005, and part of my famous Camping series.

This was a very difficult day.  LRN4’s leukemia is back.  I’m heartbroken, frightened, terrified, and really struggling to be the positive, confident one.  I’ll get back there tomorrow.  She goes back to the hospital tomorrow, assuming there’s a bed available.  They start chemo, keep her there for a couple days, and hopefully send her back to the Village to finish the 10-day chemo course.  Then more chemo, probably another transplant, and we don’t know what else.

All’s not lost – it’s just a setback.  But things were going so well and we were so close to going home and resuming our lives.  We believe that’s still in our future.  It’s just delayed a little bit longer.

No funny stuff today.  Next week.  LRN4, I love you.  You are everything.  You are the only thing.  Survive.

See you on Monday.

lifeanddeath

Here’s a lone living rose among the poor, sad ex-roses in the rose garden.  Actually, it looks like there are a couple good ones there in the background too.  So all is not lost.  Great Art courtesy of the exclusive iPhone-cam, taken in the rose garden at the City of Hope, and part of my famous Garden series.

Greetings from Las Vegas!  I know it’s absolutely nuts, but we just couldn’t stand hanging around the Village any longer.  So we drove over here this evening.  Took a long time, but I think it was worth it.  We were originally going to spend two nights, but we had to cut it to one at the last moment.  Our doctor wants us to be available tomorrow afternoon in case he needs us.

Kind of a rough afternoon.  The doctor isn’t happy with LRN4’s blood right now.  He did another test this afternoon and we hope to have at least preliminary results tomorrow afternoon.  I’ll keep you informed, Loyal Readers.

And that’s about it for today.  I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this exciting Morrowlife Employment Agency job opportunity – traffic-snarling goat!

See you tomorrow.
