Here’s LRN2 in a river again. This time, he’s standing. Great Art once again taken at Calaveras Big Trees State Park and part of my famous Camping and Vacation series.
Another day. Got a few things done at work, but mostly went to meetings. Tuesdays are like that. So I guess that’s the same thing as working, no?
I received my new SATA drive enclosure from Amazon today. Got the old Terabyte drive from Old Larry installed in it in just a few minutes and got it formatted and set up on my new router in short order. Now I’m trying to get Time Machine to talk to it so I don’t have to plug the machine into my 500GB external drive up in the office to make it back up. Success so far is limited, but I still expect to prevail. We’ll see.
Update a few minutes later – I’m trying for the third time, and I think this one is going to work. Had to create a sparse bundle with a certain name and then copy it over to the server. So far, it’s gotten much farther than before. Keep your fingers crossed, Loyal Readers!
Anyway. It’s been another quiet evening. LRN4 is on the phone getting help with one of our friends who is in the hospital and not doing well. LRN2 is at Young Men. And I’m fiddling around with computers, as usual.
Update a few more minutes later – It’s working! I’m not sure my sparse bundle correctly limits the amount of space it will take up, but we’ll see. I’m cautiously optimistic. Sure is going slowly, though. Which is to be expected, since I’m doing it wirelessly. Only have to copy 260 GB of data, which corresponds to 1.3 million files. What do I have in all those files? I’ll let it run all night, and if it doesn’t finish, I’ll interrupt it and let it finish tomorrow night. What could possibly go wrong?
Anyway. Time for dessert. I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this shocking Muppet violence news: Elmo attack! Key information – Elmo won.
See you tomorrow.

Here’s LRN4 sitting on a rock in a river. Hence the title, “Rock sitter.” Seemed appropriate to me. Great Art taken at Calaveras Big Trees State Park and part of both my Camping and Vacation series.
Well, another weekend has come and gone. Not much to show for it, other than a concrete post holding a fence post into the ground. But that’s enough. Also went for ice cream with LRN4. Also rested. So it was a big success.
And things are normal around the office. Got lots done there today. I had several annual performance appraisal tasks that were due on Friday, so I did them all today. Also arranged for some money for my subcontractor. Unfortunately, didn’t arrange for any money for myself. Maybe tomorrow.
LRN1’s letter sounded really good this week. He appears to be really enjoying office work, much to his surprise, and he’s gotten the routine a little bit better under control, so he’s happy. Good on ‘im.
It’s time for home evening (activity: jacuzzification, plus swimming in 78 degree water for any hardy souls who care to try it), so I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this shocking food violence news: biscuit harassment!
See you tomorrow.

Here are LRN2 and LRN4 standing on the stump of a tree a Calaveras Big Trees State Park. Yet another entry in my famous Camping and Vacation series. Turns out that trip was the last one in our old trailer. There are sure a lot of good memories in that thing. But I’m not really sorry it’s gone. I think. Mostly.
Extreme short shrift – it’s late and, besides, I don’t have much to write about today anyway.
Thanks to LRN26 for the excellent biblical interpretation on the Zucchini post. I think he has something there.
Worked, ate, and commuted today. Also wrote my weekly letter to LRN1. Now I’m planning on going to bed.
Tomorrow, we plan to re-secure a post on the little mini-fence that covers up the pool equipment. Otherwise, not much in the plans. I’m sure we’ll think of something.
And I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this shocking food crime news: honey smuggling!
See you Monday.

Here’s the sign for the parking lot at Calaveras Big Trees Stake Park. You can’t go wrong, as long as you want to go to the parking lot. Part of both my famous Camping and Vacation series.
No posts the last couple of days. Thanks to LRN4 for noticing. Don’t know what I said to make her think I was posting yesterday. Should have done and all that, but didn’t do. Didn’t even get started.
Not that things aren’t just fine. They’re . . . umm . . . just fine. Nothing to complain about. Work’s busy and pretty good. The iPhone project is going well. Home is getting less and less cluttered all the time and is going well. I’m eating well – a bit too well, in fact. Must . . . lose . . . weight.
Speaking of the iPhone project, I made my first actual code change yesterday! It was a one-liner, but the important thing is knowing what one line to write and where to put it. Seems to work. I’m hoping for feedback from my colleagues as to whether they’re happy with it. Hope reigns supreme.
Otherwise, situation normal. So I won’t belabor the point and will end with this exciting GOOD food violence news: the zucchini defense! Finally, there’s an actual use for zucchini.
See you tomorrow.

Here’s LRN4 in front of Old Number 29 – the steam locomotive that, until recently, was used to pull the train we rode to the Grand Canyon. Such a pity we missed out on that neat experience. Great Art courtesy of the exclusive iPhone-cam and part of both my famous Train and Vacation series.
LRN2 mentioned sometime over the weekend that I’ve only posted three times so far this month. Not my best record. Of course, some Loyal Readers might think this is the best month of all here on the blog. Not that they’d think such a thing, of course.
Fairly peaceful weekend. Wish I could remember what happened. I do remember working pretty much all day on Saturday. Friday too, come to think of it. Oh, wait – I know: I cleaned up my office. It looks beautiful. The Loyal Readers and I also got a whole bunch of junk out of the garage – either moved it, threw it away, or got it ready to sell. Either way, it’s not cluttering up the front of the Taurus or impeding the way into the Ranger. Much better.
Did a whole bunch of other things too, and I’m sure they were important. Also very productive. LRN4 and I spent some time in the jacuzzi Saturday evening, which was nice. LRN2 was at a priest/laurel activity at the time, which he enjoyed.
It’s less than four months before good old LRN2 is off to college. At least that’s what we expect to happen – his application to BYU has been submitted. Now we wait for acceptance, which should be no problem. We’ll see how it goes.
Not much else in the news department, so I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this shocking food violence news: cornbread pan attack!
See you tomorrow.
