Here’s LRN2 with his very-shaky-looking-but-prize-winning-anyway water rocket, just before he launched it into fame at this year’s Science Olympiad.  In our extensive pre-contest testing, we determined that fins were unimportant, fancy looks were unimportant, and even a particularly straight nosecone was unimportant.  So we didn’t have any of those.  What was important was a reliable nosecone separation system and a working parachute deployment system.  And we had those in spades, since that’s where we spent our development time.  He was barely beaten by a team from a big high school, but his rocket worked great and was quite impressive in action.  Love those goggles, LRN2.  Part of my famous Machinery series.  And yes, I think a water rocket is definitely a machine.

Quick post tonight – I want to get back to work on the app.  No post yesterday.  Also very little app work.  I took the late train to work and consequently took the late train home.  Just ran out of time to do much of anything.

Anyway.  Happy Birthday to my mother!  I tried calling her this afternoon, but missed her.  Probably out partying.  Fortunately, LRN4 was able to talk with her and I hope to catch up with her on the weekend.  Many happy returns of the day anyway, Mom!

Not much else of consequence to tell.  We’re getting ready for the neighborhood barbecue on Saturday.  It’s supposed to be rainy and cool, but we can hope the rain holds off until after the burgers and steaks have been consumed.  If not, we’ll be moving into our garage, presumably.  Wish us fun, Loyal Readers!

And that’s about it for today.  I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this shocking food violence news: accidental quasi-food attack!

See you tomorrow.
