Flower girls

Monday, November 16th, 2009

Here are LRN4 and LRN12 with flowers behind their ears. Very subtle. Taken at the Young Women fund-raiser Mexican dinner on Saturday night. Great Art courtesy of the exclusive iPhone-cam.

The dinner was fun, the food was good, and I spent way too much money at the silent auction. Bought a bunch of babysitting, among a few other things. I also have somebody to wrap all my Christmas presents for me. So they might actually look nice this year.

Time’s short tonight. The Miata’s hydraulic clutch leaked all its fluid out before we noticed it again today, so LRN2 was unable to use the car today. Since the Suburban is already at the shop (current estimate: $1700), a quick repair was imperative. LRN2 and I got it done in good time, but it’s already late, and Home Evening was pretty short too. Activity was . . . auto repair. Fortunately, the Miata is really easy to work on. Also watching Beauty and the Beast, which is a favorite around here these days. I’m rooting for the Beast.

Spoke in church on Sunday, at the Young Single Adults ward. Attendance was moderately light – maybe a few more than at the Spanish branch – but there was a good spirit there and I enjoyed being there. Felt like I hadn’t prepared enough material. Ended up using only about half of what I had prepared. As usual.

So let’s end with today’s Bad Idea news. If I were a turkey, I might think of lying low this time of year.

See you tomorrow.

Buoys

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

Here’s a bunch of buoys lined up. In Canada. With a mural. With a buoy on it. In Canada. Part of the cruise, of course.

Pretty nice day. LRN12 went to the doctor’s office and discovered she has an ear infection. Pink medicine has begun and she’s already feeling a lot better. Although she really didn’t want to take it at first. Had to be bribed with ice cream. Which worked like a charm.

Otherwise a beautiful day. Got some work done. Left some more for tomorrow. As usual. I gave monetary awards to two people today, which always makes me feel a little like Santa Claus, even if it’s not my money. Ho ho ho.

LRN5 is here for a couple of nights (I think) to help LRN12 get better. How nice of her work to give her the time off for that. We’re glad she’s here.

So we’ll end with something I thought I’d never see – yet another instance of corkscrew toilet violence. Can’t we all just get along?

See you tomorrow.

Carvers

Here are LRN2, LRN4, and LRN12 getting ready for Halloween. Actually on Halloween, as it turns out. The results speak for themselves.

No post on Friday. Got busy at the ward Halloween party and never got to it. Thanks to Anon for noticing.

Got a few things done over the weekend. The pool’s basket filters were so full of leaves the water was barely circulating. Need to keep a closer eye on that this time of year. Can’t remember what else was accomplished, besides Halloween stuff and relaxation. But I’m sure there must have been something. Really.

And a new week has started. More of the usual. Although it was darker than usual at coming-home time, what with Daylight Saving Time being over and all.

LRN2’s working on a handwritten paper. That’s not his favorite thing to do, so he’s decided to spice it up a bit by hand-illustrating it. Which is one of his favorite things to do. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished product. Keep up the good work, LRN2!

We’ll end with today’s toilet violence news: leave the corkscrew at home.

See you tomorrow.

Platform view

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Here’s the view from the train platform on the morning of August 17. I love to see a pretty sunrise. Or sunset. Great Art courtesy of the exclusive iPhone-cam.

The weekend’s here! For me, at least. Not too many plans this weekend. There’s the ward Halloween party tomorrow night and actual trick-or-treating Saturday night with LRN12, which should be lots of fun. We’re also cleaning the church on Saturday morning, and I should probably look at the pool filters yet again – it’s been terribly windy this week and the pool had tons of dust in it. We’ll see how that goes.

The real news today, though, is that LRN1’s mission call came! He’s going to the Guatemala Guatemala City North mission, speaking Spanish, of course. He reports to the Provo MTC on February 10, spends three weeks there, and then goes on to the Guatemala MTC for another six weeks before starting actual proselyting. He’s excited, we’re excited, everybody’s excited. Congratulations, LRN1!

As part of the continuing Morrowlife Blog effort to ensure full employment among the Loyal Reader population, I offer today’s opportunity: worm charmer. Get your applications in now, Loyal Readers!

See you tomorrow.

Lecture guy

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

Here’s an organ technician waving his hands giving a lecture last Saturday in the organ loft of a church in Modesto. It was really interesting – for the first hour or so, anyway. I’m glad we went. Great Art courtesy of the famous iPhone cam.

Little to discuss today. Worked. LRN5 came over this evening to visit LRN12, who was very appreciative. Nothing else to speak of.

LRN4 got us ticket to go to a King Tut exhibition at the De Young Museum in San Francisco. We’re going on November 13 and looking forward to it.

Thanks to LRN1 for noting my punctuation omission in yesterday’s blog. I’ve decided to leave it there as a memorial to what can go wrong when you’re all worked up over Great Toilet Art.

I’m sad to have to report an outbreak of bacon violence. Will the food violence never end? Can’t all the meats just get along?

See you tomorrow.
