Here’s a big pile of rocks. In a river. In Calaveras Big Trees State Park. Part of both my famous Camping and Vacation series.
Another beautiful day here in Lardville. It rained yesterday – lots of thunder and lightning too, which is a bit unusual for this area. It was also quite foggy in the morning. No complaints, though – it felt a bit like a preview of winter. Just the right way to get autumn started.
And it was sunny and pleasant today. Of course.
Spent a few minutes today working on my new iPhone app idea. I’m keeping quiet about it just yet. I’m not counting on it being really popular, of course, but I’m hoping to get it to work and maybe get a few downloads. It’ll be unique, I think. I really need help with beautiful design, though. Really.
Anyway. I got the first cut at the UI working. At least there are buttons and text fields and a tab bar and such. nothing does anything yet, but that will come. It’s not really that hard, especially if you have a book that tells you how to do it, like I do. I have to figure out how to make the app make sounds, though, which I haven’t learned yet. Must be later in the book. I’ll figure it out.
Fine day at work. For the second day in a row, I was extremely busy – seemed like I was either in a meeting, getting ready for a meeting, or going to a meeting all day. Busy is good.
And I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this shocking fast-food violence news: Wendy’s scooter chase!
See you tomorrow.

Here’s an . . . umm . . . . railroad . . . thing. Of sorts. I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to run down the track and . . . umm . . . do something. All I really know about it is I want one. Great Art courtesy of the exclusive iPhone-cam and taken during our Grand Canyon trip in Williams, Arizona and part of my famous Train and Vacation series.
Extreme Short Shrift. It’s late already and I’m not getting nearly enough sleep.
Plus, not much new. Had a very busy day at work, which was mostly good, but also just a bit tiring. So let’s see – what needs to be mentioned here? Umm . . . nothing.
So I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this exciting Morrowlife employment agency job opportunity: congressional clown. Key motto: “It can’t get any worse.”
See you tomorrow.

Here’s the world-famous Turquois Tepee, of Williams, Arizona. Great Art courtesy of the exclusive iPhone-cam and part of my famous Motel Sign and Vacation series. Although, come to think of it, I don’t think that was a motel. Still, there’s a hotel across the street and that’s close enough. The categorization stands.
No posts the last couple of days. Missed Friday because it was my off day and seemed like the weekend. Missed Monday because I wasn’t feeling well and stayed home from work, so it seemed like the weekend too. Sort of.
Not much to report, though. Watched most of general conference, which was nice. Lots of good preachin’.
Also hit a bucket of golf balls on Friday morning, as planned. I’m pleased to report that I’m not a whole lot worse than I was five or six years ago, even though I haven’t even picked up a club in that time. In fact, I think I may have made a bit of a breakthrough towards the end of the session. We’ll see if it takes the next time I go out there. Which might have to be at least a few weeks, since I really messed up the skin on one of my fingers – got a blister and burst it, and now there’s a patch of very raw skin. I guess I could wear a couple of band-aids. Yeah, that’s it.
Anyway. Didn’t do much else, other than watch conference on TV. We did go to the Smiths’ house on Sunday morning for a very nice breakfast and the watch the first Sunday session on their big-screen TV. Very big-screen TV. It has a beautiful picture. Although the conference broadcast on BYU TV didn’t seem to be in High-definition, strangely. Still, it was the same anyway.
Things are fine at work – they hardly noticed I wasn’t there yesterday. I’ll have to do something to make them miss me a bit more when I’m not there. Must be needed these days, no?
And that’s about it for tonight. I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this shocking food violence news: banana battle!
See you tomorrow.

Here are LRN2 and LRN4 warming up. At the warming hut, of course. Ignore that “Closed” sign. They look open to me. Great Art taken at Calaveras Big Trees State Park, of course. Part of my famous Camping and Vacation series.
Greetings from the train! I’m on the early train today – spent an extra hour at work last night, so I’m home early today – and enjoying having the work week done.
Lots of plans for tomorrow. I finally hope to hit a bucket of balls, I need to check LRN1’s Gmail account and write him my weekly letter, and I want to do some programming work. Plus, I should probably clean the filters. Also whatever LRN4 has planned for me.
General conference is this weekend, so we’ll see at least a couple of sessions. Probably won’t have time for all ten hours, but we’ll get caught back up later, I expect.
My computer’s backup continues. After two nights of work, It’s still not even ten percent complete, but it’s doing its best. I hope to plug it in for a while during the weekend and maybe it’ll go a bit faster.
The hot days continue, although it’s finally cooling off a bit. I think it was supposed to only be in the mid-nineties today. Definitely Indian Summer. Whatever that really is.
The train’s getting ready to pull into the station. See you shortly.
I’m back. Had a nice dinner and I’m sitting in my comfy chair. Thanks for asking.
The Time Machine backup has started again. It’s down to 199 GB left to copy. Any minute now.
And I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this shocking food violence news: exploding chicken lawsuit!
See you tomorrow.

Here’s LRN2 standing inside a tree. Well, inside a tunnel inside a tree. Yet another piece of Great Art taken at Calaveras Big Trees State Park and part of my famous Camping and Vacation series.
Extreme Short Shrift. It’s late already.
My new network-attached storage drive is working great. The Time Machine backup continues. It transferred a total of about 2.5 GB overnight last night. So far tonight, it’s gotten a total of about 2.8 GB transferred. At this rate, it’s going to take many days. That’s okay, I guess. I’m not really in a hurry. I already have one Time Machine backup on my 500 GB drive, which I don’t plan to erase until this one is done. So what if it takes two weeks to get my first backup done? The incrementals will go much more quickly after that.
Forgot to download indexing batches last night, so I watched three Get Smart episodes on this evening’s train instead. Good show and highly recommended. One of my favorites. Another desk came from Netflix today, so I’ll watch its episodes Real Soon Now.
And I need to go to bed already, so I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this exciting Morrowlife employment opportunity: security monkey!
See you tomorrow.
