Train arrival

November 23rd, 2009 by michael

Here’s the morning ACE train arriving at the station several days ago. Great Art courtesy of the exclusive iPhone cam and part of my famous Train series. Very artsy.

Great weekend. Didn’t sleep as much as I would have liked, but relaxed just the same. LRN12 spent the weekend with her mom and had a wonderful time. It’s nice to have her back for a couple of days. Tuesday night, she goes back to her mom’s house and we leave for Utah early Wednesday morning. Blogging will probably be light to non-existent, depending on the available of internet connections. I really need to figure out how to blog from the iPhone.

Blogging may not happen tomorrow either – it’s one of my Massive Meeting Tuesdays, and then we want to leave home at 5:00 on Wednesday morning. I pity my Loyal Readers.

We worked out our Christmas activity calendar for December this evening at Home Evening. We pretty much have the usual things planned, but it’s exciting for the plan to come together. We’re just a few weeks away from the Christmas break!

Tonight’s news is more shocking food violence: pasta attack! Can you blame the guy?

See you tomorrow, maybe.

Photography prohibited

Here’s an ominous sign for us Great Artists. I wonder if publishing this picture could be considered evidence of breaking the rule. Fortunately, the sign was in a museum. In Canada. During our Alaska cruise, of course.

Maybe I should make a Famous Alaska Series for the blog. I could add thirty or forty posts right off the bat, huh? And the hits just keep coming.

No post yesterday. I got busy.

Pretty good day. We got some serious rain in Sunnyvale, not so much here in Lardville. Fortunately, the rain had passed by the time I left the office, and it hadn’t started when on my way in. I’m not too crazy about standing on a rainy train platform. We needed the rain, though.

The weekend has begun! LRN12 is going to her mom’s place for the weekend, which will be a welcome thing for everybody. Have fun, LRN12! We have a High Priests group dinner on Saturday night, which we’re looking forward to. Also have . . . ummm . . . lots of other things to do. Hopefully including relaxing.

LRN1 noted correctly that the New Jersey Turnpike turkey has been captured. I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing for his Thanksgiving chances. Maybe he’s like Charlie the Tuna and wants to be caught and eaten. Kind of weird if you ask me. Which you didn’t.

There’s been a shocking recurrence of toilet violence – this time in Phoenix. LRN3 and LRN15 had better be careful out in there.

See you tomorrow.

Salt factory

November 18th, 2009 by michael

Here’s tonight’s view of the salt factory near my office. Picture taken from the train (reflected overhead lights, dirty windows, and all) and courtesy of the exclusive iPhone-cam.

Good day. Not much happened, but it was a good day. Got home a bit earlier than usual and had a nice dinner with the family. Washed dishes (my current hobby, and oddly enjoyable), chatted with LRN4 while playing Barbies and putting together puzzles with LRN12, and generally relaxed. Give me a night like this any time.

Nothing else to report, so we’ll end with today’s news from the world of athletics: the RPS world champion has been named.

See you tomorrow.

Angry statue

November 17th, 2009 by michael

Here’s an angry statue. I wouldn’t want to meet this guy in the proverbial dark alley. Although, who knows? He might be a lot of fun. Appearances can be deceiving, you know. Great Art taken in Canada during our recent Alaska trip. Part of my famous Statue series.

Another normal day. Got a few things done, left a few for tomorrow. Can’t complain, as usual.

LRN4’s out this evening getting some visiting teaching done. I hope it’s fun. She did a bit of very impressive detective work this morning, looking for another of her visiting teaching people who had kind of disappeared. She figured out where she is! Good job, LRN4! The Sherlock Holmes of Lardville.

I read of some horrifying food violence today, so we’ll end with that: cheesesteak violence. Some things definitely should be eaten rather than being used as weapons. Why couldn’t he get violent with a bologna sandwich, like normal people?

See you tomorrow.

Flower girls

November 16th, 2009 by michael

Here are LRN4 and LRN12 with flowers behind their ears. Very subtle. Taken at the Young Women fund-raiser Mexican dinner on Saturday night. Great Art courtesy of the exclusive iPhone-cam.

The dinner was fun, the food was good, and I spent way too much money at the silent auction. Bought a bunch of babysitting, among a few other things. I also have somebody to wrap all my Christmas presents for me. So they might actually look nice this year.

Time’s short tonight. The Miata’s hydraulic clutch leaked all its fluid out before we noticed it again today, so LRN2 was unable to use the car today. Since the Suburban is already at the shop (current estimate: $1700), a quick repair was imperative. LRN2 and I got it done in good time, but it’s already late, and Home Evening was pretty short too. Activity was . . . auto repair. Fortunately, the Miata is really easy to work on. Also watching Beauty and the Beast, which is a favorite around here these days. I’m rooting for the Beast.

Spoke in church on Sunday, at the Young Single Adults ward. Attendance was moderately light – maybe a few more than at the Spanish branch – but there was a good spirit there and I enjoyed being there. Felt like I hadn’t prepared enough material. Ended up using only about half of what I had prepared. As usual.

So let’s end with today’s Bad Idea news. If I were a turkey, I might think of lying low this time of year.

See you tomorrow.
