Here’s LRN2 with another cool character on the carousel at Great America. Part of both my famous Statue and Machinery series.

Extreme Short Shrift again tonight. I let it get a little late again. Had to write some emails to ward young men presidents and a few other people. Also spent some time lounging about. Very nice.

I don’t appear to have mentioned my dental checkup yesterday. Can’t imagine how I could have left that out. No cavities! And the hygienist told me I had absolutely no tartar. I’m chalking it up to clean living, a healthy outlook, and the help of my friends. Also my electric toothbrush.

Today was my little baby brother Chris’s 49th birthday. Happy birthday, non-Loyal-Reader brother!

And I’ll leave you with this shocking accidental food violence news: Winnie the Pooh lives!

See you tomorrow.

Recital

Monday, April 19th, 2010

Here’s LRN2 after this weekend’s organ recital, at which he received the check for his official organ scholarship. Well done, LRN2! He really loves being an organist – I think it’s the power of the instrument. It’s a pretty cool thing. Great Art courtesy of the exclusive iPhone-cam. Part of my famous Machinery series (the organ, not the Loyal Reader).

Missed a post or two again. I was busy. Had a nice weekend and did lots of things. I got my car washed at the car wash and LRN2 washed and waxed the Miata by hand. It looks great. Also finally got the pool and pond filters cleaned. Yeepers – they were dirty. Also got a bit of garage straightening out done. Lots more to go, but it’s nice to get started.

Got LRN1’s first email from the actual mission field. He’s in a little town north of Guatemala City called colonia San Luis. He reports there are no maps, no street names, and no house numbers. Must make it confusing for the mailman. Anyway, he’s having a wonderful time and adjusting quite well. Had a brief brush with some bad water right after he got there, but that should have no long-lasting effects. Hopefully.

Anyway. I want to get to bed a bit early tonight, so I’m off. I’ll leave you with this disturbing food violence news: weaponized chili!

See you tomorrow.

Here’s LRN4’s new car as it appeared in the garage this very evening. Still looks perfect – way to take care of it, LRN4! Part of my famous Machinery series. Great Art courtesy of the exclusive iPhone-cam.

Greetings from the train! I missed a couple of days there – busy again. There was Massive Meeting Tuesday and . . . ummm . . . wacked out Wednesday. Or something like that. Spent the evening chatting with LRN4 instead of blogging. Or exercising, for that matter.

Fine day. It was sunny and warm out in Sunnyvale and I hear it was the same here in Lardville. We’re not expect any more rain until Monday, I believe. Can’t complain.

I may have mentioned LRN2 and LRN4’s upcoming trip to San Diego, Mesa, and Las Vegas to visit her sister, LRN3, and her other sister, in that order. They’re basically spending the last half of May on the road. Since the last weekend of their visit will be the Memorial Day weekend, I’m flying down to Vegas to join them for a couple of days and then drive home together. Couldn’t get a cheap flight on Friday or Saturday, so I’m going on Sunday for about $63 bucks. We’ll stay for Monday and come home Tuesday. I’m looking forward to the trip.

Speaking of trips, LRN4 is going to Salt Lake to see her brother and father the week after next. Staying Monday to Monday, as that was when the cheap flights were available. She’s looking forward to that trip too.

Let’s see – what else is going on? The Suburban’s check engine light came on again on Sunday when I drove kind of fast over the driveway curb at church. Sigh. I got out my new OBD II diagnostic tool last night and plugged it in. It told me there was a small leak in the sealed fuel venting system. I assumed the gas cap was a bit loose, so I reinstalled it and reset the light. Let’s hope it works. And that I remember to drive a bit more slowly over bouncy driveways.

LRN1’s officially in the mission field! He left the Guatemala City MTC Tuesday and headed over to the Guatemala City North mission home. We have no idea where his first area is, but hope to hear soon. Exciting! Check out his new address over there on the right. Write! Or use dearelder.com for fast, free pouch mail like I do.

Well, the battery on this thing is quite low and we’re just a few minutes from Lardville, so it’s time to quit. I’ll leave my Loyal Readers with this exciting job opportunity: rabbit whisperer!

See you tomorrow.

Queen Mary

Here’s the ship that was parked next door to ours in Long Beach. Their cruises tend to be remarkably short, but they’re probably pretty luxurious. Or at least they used to be. Part of my famous Machinery series.

No post yesterday. I had something going on. Or nothing. Don’t really remember. Tonight was Scout Roundtable, which I attended and enjoyed. Got to meet some people and chat with others I already knew. I need to make my presence felt there a bit.

Got another person’s two-week notice today. Sigh. Another plaque and luncheon and another one of my favorite people gone soon.

Many thanks to LRN4 for his encouraging words in Tuesday’s comments. At least one reader is Loyal. I’m sure there are others. Maybe. Probably not.

LRN2 has started putting fabric back on the second half of the (no longer) blue sofa. The first half looks great, so the outlook remains optimistic for the second half. Should be done within a few days now.

Nothing else going on. I have a commitment at a yoot training evening for one of the other wards, so posting might be sporadic tomorrow too. I’ll try for something, anyway. LRN12’s coming for the weekend tomorrow. Should be a lot of fun. Because she’s a lot of fun.

I’ll leave you with this shocking food violence news: Taco Bell prospective employee robbery!

See you tomorrow.

Splendor

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Here’s our cruise ship – the Carnival Splendor. The picture’s not crooked – the ocean was actually slanted just a bit uphill that day. Great Art taken from the shore at Cabo San Lucas and part of my famous Machinery series.

The blog is back! Our cruise was a lot of fun and very relaxing. It’s a bit hard getting back into the swing of things, but the fun had to end sometime. LRN2 did great by himself here in Lardville, the house was in great shape, everybody’s healthy and happy, and all’s right with the world.

We got great news the other day – LRN1 is heading for Guatemala tomorrow! He’ll be at the MTC there for six weeks and then start serving in the field. I’ll get his address updated over there on the right Real Soon Now. I finally got around to creating the mailing list for LRN4 to use to forward his emails to friends and family this evening, so everybody will know what’s going on with him now.

Otherwise Extreme Short Shrift this evening. It’s extremely late and I just got a haircut, which requires a shower before I retire for the evening. Cruise details tomorrow.

I’ll leave you with this shocking food violence news: hot dog injury! How un-American can you get?

See you tomorrow.
