More totems

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Here’s yet another totem picture. Taken at the usual place during the usual vacation. I liked the lighting in the Totem room. Made ’em look kind of sinister. Part of my famous Statue series.

Busy day, with seemingly few accomplishments. LRN4 and I spent most of it shopping for Christmas presents. Spent a lot of money and finished the shopping. Woo hoo! I still might want to find one or two more little things for her.

Otherwise, activities were limited. It was cold and rainy today – although warmer than the last couple of days. We’re expecting worse weather on Saturday and maybe Sunday. It’s nice to have a bit of variety, though.

The branch Christmas dinner was nice, as expected. The food was great! We had to leave a bit early to go work on the day’s last Christmas present, which I think a couple of Loyal Readers are going to love. Hope so, anyway.

I have yet more shocking food violence news, and this one is such a waste: steak assault. Couldn’t she use a hot dog or a piece of salmon or something a little more expendable?

See you Monday.

Doll

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

Here’s LRN12’s Christmas present. She likes dolls, so I see no reason why she wouldn’t adore this one. Looks like Snow White to me. Great Eskimo Art taken in that wonderful museum in Canada. Part of my famous Statue series.

The weekend is once again here! After having late meetings the last couple of nights that prohibited me from even going home between work and church meetings, it’s been a wonderfully relaxing evening at home. Had a leisurely and delicious dinner of enchiladas, did a couple of dishes, and then stood by the nice warm fireplace and read some tech websites. Blogging now, and then I think I’ll read some more and turn in fairly early. My idea of a nice night.

Work’s still busy, but things are getting done. I still have about eight performance appraisals to give on Monday, but I think that can be accomplished. Let’s hope so, anyway. If I’m late . . . umm . . . nothing will happen to me. But I hope to be on time anyway.

We have some shocking food violence news tonight, of which there certainly seems to have been a lot lately: donut assault on a police officer. We need strict federal donut regulation, and we need it now. How did the guy think he would get away with it?

See you tomorrow.

Totem

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Here’s a freaky totem pole. Kind of a weird one in the background there too, now that I mention it. Great Art taken in Canada during our Alaska cruise, of course. Part of my famous Statue series.

No posts Monday or Tuesday. Thanks to Anon for noticing, as usual. I was busy trying to fix the house’s network on Monday, and it was Massive Meeting Tuesday last night, so I didn’t get home from work until after 10:00, after which I didn’t feel much like blogging. Sorry about that, Loyal Readers.

Had some government visitors in the office today. They were doing a little bit of lessons learned-type fact finding. It was an interesting meeting. They’ll be back for more tomorrow morning.

Met with the branch’s Elders Quorum presidency this evening. Those guys are great – full of desire to help people and they have lots of great ideas. They’re also trying harder than almost anyone else I know to be completely obedient. I really like them.

But it’s time for bed already, so I’ll leave you with this troublesome Toilet Controversy – Hulk wants his toilet back. Maybe he should have asked for custody.

See you tomorrow.

Masks

Friday, December 4th, 2009

Here are some native Eskimo masks. They must have had great Halloween parties back then. Great Art taken in that fantastic Canadian museum during our Alaska cruise. Of course. Featuring an obscure cameo by the Loyal Blogger. Part of my famous Statue series.

Another Extreme Short Shrift night. We went to LRN2’s Christmas organ concert (it was very nice this year, and he did a wonderful job) right after I got home from work and we ate dinner, and it’s getting late now. So Extreme Short Shrift.

I believe the weekend plans have already been mentioned, so I’ll just add a new job opportunity for my Loyal Readers to look into: alien greeter. Somebody has to Take Them To Our Leader.

And I’ll top that off with another shocking example of candy and gum violence: bubble gum bandits.

See you on Monday.

Salt Flats

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

Here’s one more piece of Great Art from our Thanksgiving trip to Utah – the salt flats. Taken during a rest stop at a … umm … rest stop. The interesting thing about that rest stop is that they have a foot washing station, which is somewhat unusual for such a place. Presumably, they expect people to walk out on the salt and need to clean up. Too cold for us, though. Picture courtesy of the exclusive iPhone-cam.

Extreme Short Shrift. It’s already 10:30 and I need to get to bed. Gave minor help to LRN4 to get some Christmas gifts ordered this evening and … umm … rested. Lots going on at work, though, so it’s nice to rest a bit.

Busy weekend coming up, though. LRN2 has an organ performance Friday evening. Saturday, we’re putting up our Christmas lights in the morning, going to see a creche exhibit (either the beautiful one in Palo Alto or the slightly more convenient one in Modesto – we’re leaning towards Modesto right now) mid-day, and going to the ward Christmas dinner in the evening, where LRN2 is playing the piano in a piano-harmonica duet, among other things. I’m looking forward to it all.

I’m very sorry to announce the death this afternoon of my friend Dave Allen. He was a truly nice person who survived cancer for a year or two, but deteriorated quite rapidly lately and finally lost the battle today. I’ll miss him.

I’ve located an important holiday job opportunity for my Loyal Readers: caveman. It’s temporary, but looks like it might be very lucrative, what with visitors handing out treats all the time.

Tonight’s food violence news comes courtesy of LRN5: police candy theft. Fortunately, our Boys in Blue were able to thwart the heinous misdeed.

See you tomorrow.
