Mini Rushmore

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Here’s a miniature version of Mount Rushmore somewhere in GreatAmerica. Why? Heaven only knows. But it’s there. Part of my famous Statue series.

Another pretty day, although not quite as warm as yesterday, which wasn’t quite as warm as the day before. No problem, though. It was comfortable, and it’ll be plenty warm plenty soon, as LRN4 pointed out to me today.

Worked 10 hours again. Accomplished a little, but not enough. There’s always tomorrow!

Pretty much worked, ate, and commuted. So there’s nothing to talk about today, I suppose. Therefore, I’ll leave you with this heartwarming driving story: try, try again.

See you tomorrow.

Mayan statue

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

Here’s LRN1 with a statue in a museum somewhere in Guatemala. I presume it’s Mayan. That’s LRN1 over there on the left. Great Art courtesy of LRN1’s fellow missionary and part of my famous Statue series. UPDATE: Also part of my now-famous Guatemala series.

The weekend has begun! I worked moderately hard this week and expect to work much harder this weekend. There’s tons to do. I need to replace the front brakes on my beloved Honda – they’ve been squealing, which I believe means they need to be replaced. It has over 52,000 miles on it now, so that’s not surprising. What is surprising is that it’s still on its original tires. Not much longer, though, I fear. Need to start saving my money. Those Michelin Pilots get expensive. And nothing but the best will suffice for me, of course.

Also need to fill a couple of cars, wash one, and . . . ummm . . . Oh, man – I had a whole list of things in my mind. Can’t remember any of them. They’ll come to me, though.

LRN4 continues to enjoy her trip to Utah. I miss her more each day. Only four more days until she’s home!

And I’ll leave you with this shocking food violence news: legislative egg toss!

See you tomorrow.

Here’s LRN2 with another cool character on the carousel at Great America. Part of both my famous Statue and Machinery series.

Extreme Short Shrift again tonight. I let it get a little late again. Had to write some emails to ward young men presidents and a few other people. Also spent some time lounging about. Very nice.

I don’t appear to have mentioned my dental checkup yesterday. Can’t imagine how I could have left that out. No cavities! And the hygienist told me I had absolutely no tartar. I’m chalking it up to clean living, a healthy outlook, and the help of my friends. Also my electric toothbrush.

Today was my little baby brother Chris’s 49th birthday. Happy birthday, non-Loyal-Reader brother!

And I’ll leave you with this shocking accidental food violence news: Winnie the Pooh lives!

See you tomorrow.

Snoopy

Here are LRN2 (center) and LRN4 (right) at Great America with their animated friend. Part of my famous Statue series. Great Art courtesy of the exclusive iPhone-cam.

Extreme short shrift. We finished our taxes tonight. Let’s just say it’s not the happiest night ever here in Lardville. The good news: California owes us lots of money. The bad news: we owe the Feds even more money. Also, California is reported to be notoriously slow in getting refunds out. Seems they want to use my money interest-free for even longer this year. Bunch of thieves. I would go to jail for doing exactly what they’re doing to me. Not that I’m bitter.

Anyway. Nice General Conference Easter weekend. We enjoyed being at home and watching the sessions of conference. We missed the Saturday morning session because we were at LRN2’s eagle recognition breakfast. Which was very nice, if a bit expensive. Not that I’m bitter.

Anyway. Nothing much else to report, other than that LRN5 and LRN12 came over on Sunday, which was nice. Also, it rained. So it was a mixed bag.

I’ll leave you with this shocking food violence news: filet-o-fish slap!

See you tomorrow.

Pig rider

Monday, March 29th, 2010

Here’s LRN2 riding a pig. And enjoying every moment of it. Picture taken at Great America on Saturday and part of my famous Statue series.

Busy, busy, busy weekend. Went to Great America on Saturday, as mentioned above. The weather was perfect (sunny and in the low 70’s), essentially every ride was open (in marked contrast to past years!), the crowd was pleasant (consisting solely of my coworkers and their families), and we had the best time we’ve ever had there. Stayed a little longer than we planned because we were having so much fun. We all even enjoyed the roller coasters we rode. And the bumper cars. Of course. I’m really glad we went.

Saturday evening, LRN5 and LRN12 came over for the rest of the weekend. It was really nice to have them here.

Sunday, my counselors and I had a ward (branch, actually) conference to attend and a fireside to present. Enjoyed it all.

And things are back to normal. LRN4 cleaned up LRN1’s stuff from his former room/my current office. It looks great in there! Now we just need to get rid of the bed and get a thinking couch in there. Then it’ll be perfect. And I can start doing some work in there. Or at least some thinking. On my thinking couch.

I’ll leave you with today’s exciting toilet news: famous urinal copies!

See you tomorrow.
