Lighthouse eagle

October 5th, 2009 by michael

Here’s the lighthouse in Ketchikan harbor. Check out the bald eagle on the top there. Part of my famous Bird series.

Welcome to post number eight hundred! That’s a lot of posts. It’s been a long time coming. Made even longer by missing Friday’s post. Many thanks to Anon for noticing. What a great guy. Or gal. Or whatever. Anyway, it was Off Friday and I lost track again. Oops.

Which just made the post-number-800 anticipation that much more exciting for my Loyal Readers, I’m sure.

Anyway. It was a fine General Conference weekend. We saw all the general sessions on TV and LRN2 and I went to the Stake Center for the Saturday evening Priesthood session. All the speakers were great and I enjoyed it all. As usual, Elder Holland’s talk was one of the highlights. Also Elder Oaks’s talk. Plus the rest of them.

Couldn’t get much accomplished in the two-hour breaks between sessions, so there was a lot of relaxation. Which was fine with me. I’m well-known for my ability to relax under almost any circumstances.

Our non-loyal-reading friends the Cooks were with us for the Saturday morning session, lunch, and the Saturday afternoon session. It was fun to have friends over.

LRN5 came over on Saturday evening and stayed until Sunday evening. It was nice to see her and I know LRN12 really enjoyed her visit too. I’m glad she came. We also had LRN24 and LRN26 over briefly on Sunday evening. Also a very welcome visit.

I cleaned the pond filter on Saturday morning. That’s the only work I can remember doing all weekend. Probably because it’s the only work I did.

This wouldn’t be a milestone post without some Very Special News. Behold: Toilet Violence! Fortunately, the victim seems to be doing fine. Let’s try to keep our tempers in check out there.

I’m off to the dentist’s office for a checkup tomorrow morning, followed by a quick blood test at the doctor’s office, in preparation for my upcoming physical. I can hardly wait.

Looking forward to another 800 posts. See you tomorrow.

Hikers

October 1st, 2009 by michael

Here’s LRN4 and me out for a hike during our most recent campout, which took place at a nice little campground in Santa Clara County. As mentioned before, we enjoyed the place, we enjoyed the company, and we enjoyed the Shakespeare. Also enjoyed the hike pictured here. Great Art courtesy of LRN1. Part of my famous Camping series. That’s me on the left.

Welcome to post number 799! I hope I remember to celebrate tomorrow. If not, we’ll get it out of the way right now: woo hoo! That’s a lot of posts. I’ll be celebrating in style.

The weekend’s here. Plans remain in flux. I need to get the alignment done on LRN4’s car. Also probably need to clean a bunch of pool and pond filters. Also need to spend some time with LRN12.

Speaking of LRN12, thanks for the nice comment, LRN24! It’s great to be remembered, isn’t it?

We have a great opportunity that I’m thinking of taking: free lighthouse! Sure, there are a few strings attached, but how often does an opportunity like that come along? I’m taking it. I always wanted to be a lighthouse keeper. As long as I don’t have to stay up too late.

Time for bed. See you tomorrow.

Under construction

September 30th, 2009 by michael

Here’s a new house going up on the Ketchikan waterfront. Looks like it’s going to be a nice place.

Extreme Short Shrift tonight, I’m afraid. I’ve been home with LRN12 while the other Loyal Readers were at Mutual. LRN4 was guest-teaching and LRN2 was attending. He was a bit disappointed. Apparently, the priests were supposed to do something with the full-time missionaries, who never showed up. Not good, and they may be hearing about it later.

Otherwise, a normal day. Much cooler than recently, as predicted, and pretty windy. Winter’s on its way. LRN1 reports that it didn’t get out of the 40’s or 50’s today in Provo. Brrr.

Today’s food violence news: fruit rollup thieves. These people just keep getting lower and lower.

See you tomorrow.

TV watcher

Here’s LRN12 watching Beauty and the Beast this evening at the Secret Undisclosed Location. She’s staying with us for a while. It’s great to have her here. Just got here this evening. Medium-res picture courtesy of the famous iPhone-cam.

No post yesterday. I got home a little late and had a few other things to do.

The weekend was fine. Not much to say about it. Got some things done. Didn’t get other things done.

One thing we did finally accomplish was to get new tires on LRN4’s car. Tried to go the cheap way by just replacing the two that were bad with some inexpensive BF Goodriches at Costco. They finally got them done and we took the car home. While I was following LRN4 in my car, I noticed that the tires looked a little skinnier than the old ones. So I had a look after we got home and discovered that they were the wrong size. So we went back to get the right size. But they then discovered that the older tires were a different speed rating than the new ones. So we had to buy four tires. I opted for the Michelins, which are great tires, and were on a good enough sale that they were essentially the same price as the Goodriches. LRN4 left Costco to get ready for the Relief Society broadcast (which was reported to have been very good), after which they informed me they only had three of the tires I had bought. So they left one of the old ones on, and LRN4 is going over there tomorrow to get the last one. Sheesh.

Otherwise, nothing happened.

We’ll end today with a cautionary tale for my Loyal Readers: here’s what happens when you commit food violence. Just say no.

See you tomorrow.

Plier hammers

September 25th, 2009 by michael

Here’s yet another exhibit in the world-famous Hammer Museum. I love these hammer-pliers. I want some. Really. Christmas is coming.

Extreme Short Shrift. It’s already time for bed.

We’ve been watching some episodes of an interesting television show from Netflix. It’s called The Big Bang Theory. I can relate to the super-geniuses. Of course.

Good weekend coming. You have a good one too.

I’ll leave you with today’s Morrowlife legal advice: get your rest at home.

See you on Monday.
